Suggested Reading

There are many, many books in publication.

Some, clearly, are so stupid, fantastical and ill researched as to be beyond even the shortest of consideration.

The following is a list of books in my collection all of which are considered to be interesting. One or two I do not personally agree with but are included simply due to their merits. After all - all suggested suspects are no better than theory + a little circumstantial evidence.

It will be noted no books putting forward the intellectually insulting & preposterous crackpot theories of Prince Albert, Dr Barnado, QueenVictoria, Walter Sickert or Elvis are included.

Also of interest are Victorian street maps of the areas. These are really useful to give good perception of how really very small the areas of Whitechapel and Spitafields

These are available from Alan Godfrey Maps http:// www.alangodfreymaps.co.uk

All books are available from http://www.thebookdepository.co.uk

1) Peter Ackroyd - Jack the Ripper and The East End. Excellent, a must have.

2) The Complete Jack the Ripper A to Z. Vital book.

3) Jack the Ripper. The Casebook. Again vital reading.

4) Jack the Ripper. Quest for a Killer. Excellent reading & is well rersearched. Puts forward a new suspect and is very credible. Again a must have book.

5) Jack the Ripper by Daniel Farson. The original modern book which brought JTR back into public view.
